Theory
At the center of all therapeutic work, there is the relationship between client and therapist. In our early sessions we will work collaboratively to make the therapeutic space a supportive place for you. I utilize a person-centered framework, meaning that I believe that each individual is the expert of their own experience and I support clients as they take leadership in their own journey.
I draw from an intersectional feminist perspective and a social justice lens in my practice. Both as a counselor and as an individual, I strive to better understand the systems in which we exist and to recognize how they impact individuals, communities, and mental health.

I am an eclectic therapist, meaning that I utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities to best support you in your process of change. I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) which is a modality designed to treat PTSD and/or symptoms of trauma. I have a background in DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) which is a skill based therapy to learn to manage emotions and effectively navigate relationships. I find that IFS (internal Family Systems) can be supportive for clients who are curious to explore their internal processes. I also have training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, a holistic practice that engages the body to reprocess trauma.

Ultimately, there is no 'one size fits all' approach to therapy. It really depends on what works best for you and what your goals in therapy are.

If you would like more information about some of the therapeutic practices that inform my work I have included links below with more in depth explanations of each approach.
